An Iowa City man was taken into custody over the weekend when he was allegedly observed walking around downtown with his genitals exposed.

The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 2:10am Sunday on the 10 block of South Linn Street.  35-year-old Sean Sires of Grandview Court was located in the area of a call for service regarding a male stumbling around with his genitals exposed. Police say Sires matched the description given, but his pants were up when they found him.

Sires allegedly showed multiple signs of intoxication, including slow repetitive confused speech, bloodshot watery eyes, and the odor of ingested alcohol.  Officers attempted to get him to use his phone to call a friend for a ride or to hire an Uber to get him home, but he was reportedly too impaired to work his phone.

Sires refused a post-arrest PBT.

He is charged with Public Intoxication. A trial has been scheduled for May 15th; if convicted Sires could get up to 30 days in jail.
