The University of Iowa football team has received its first commitment of the 2026 recruiting class.
Waterloo West offensive tackle Carson Nielsen is 6-foot-7 and 275 pounds. He played on both the offensive and defensive lines for the Wahawks last season.
Nielsen is listed as a three- and four-star recruit, depending on the recruiting service. He chose the Hawkeyes over offers from Iowa State, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota State, Penn State, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
