A sex offender faces numerous charges after Iowa City Police say he had multiple unauthorized social media accounts and numerous drugs inside his apartment.

44-year-old Richard Lund was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 2:30 Friday morning. Lund has a previous conviction out of Muscatine County for 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse. The victim in the 2006 assault is listed as a girl who was between the ages of 14 and 17.

Police say Lund failed to notify them, as required, that he had accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Yahoo!, Kik, and TikTok. He also allegedly had six different accounts on Textnow and an unreported AT&T telephone number.

A search warrant executed in February on Lund’s South Lucas Street apartment reportedly turned up 15 grams of methamphetamine, 12 grams of THC wax, one gram of cocaine, two acetaminophen/hydrocodone pills, various drug paraphernalia and packaging, and a digital scale.

Lund is charged with eight first offense sex offender registry violations, two second offense sex offender registry violations, a Controlled Substance Violation, a Drug Tax Stamp Violation, Keeping Premises for the Use of Controlled Substances, and three second offense counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

If convicted on all charges, Lund faces a maximum of 64 years in prison.

Records from the Johnson County Jail indicate Lund was also wanted out of Linn County.
